MUSSELp Taxonomy Progress

MUSSELp iconOne goal of the MUSSEL Project is to synthesize the huge volume of data available regarding freshwater mussel classification (i.e., taxonomy, systematics, evolution). Of course, that is a tall order— just look at the Score Board. We are content to do this in stages and pieces.

The first stage will be to enter taxonomic data from the secondary literature. The next stages will be to survey the primary literature and capture specimen data, including images, from collections. These progress pages will record the current state of our progress.

Just a warning to those people browsing this site. These MUSSEL Taxonomy Progress pages may not be what some would consider "interesting." The real purpose for these pages, at this time, is for our own internal use to coordinate our efforts as we fill the MUSSELp dbase. Please feel free to examine our progress, but remember, when your eye lids start to get heavy, that you were warned! — DLG
